Boost Your Joy and Energy

It’s a gorgeous day. I am celebrating by moving ‘my office’ outside and enjoying the fresh summer breeze and sunshine.

It’s the 1st day of summer and the longest day of the year here in the northern hemisphere. Long days are so delicious. All the daylight makes the day seems to stretch on forever. It is as if time expands and there is more time each day to do more things. ¬†When we are in tune with the season all the daylight makes us feel more energized as well. As the flowers bloom and the birds sing it is natural to want to get outside more and to feel more social.

Yet, even when it’s not sunny outside, I look for ways to make my day more enjoyable or to bring in more Inner Sunshine. I sprinkle in ‘bliss breaks’. By taking lots of little breaks my day feels more satisfying and I have more energy at the end of the day. For example, I take a few minutes to look out a window and daydream intentionally. Or I might take 5 minutes to make a special cup of tea.

These Bliss Breaks spread joy and energy throughout my day by allowing me to take time to do something just for me. And something that feels good while I’m doing it!

Bliss Break Ideas:

  • Close your eyes and breathe deeply into your belly.
  • Listen to a favorite song.
  • Stretch or dance around or shake your body.
  • Enjoy a small piece of dark chocolate.
  • Imagine being in your favorite place.
  • Play with a pet or a child.
  • Look at an image/photo of something/someone you love.
  • Read an uplifting post on a blog/facebook/twitter.
  • Have a quick chat with a friend.

Hi Rena. I love the idea of your bliss breaks. I think that these breaks not only make us feel better but they improve the way our mind and our brain function. I love nature. If I can take a break out in nature I am good for the whole day. Thanks for the reminder!
