Make Your Inner Little Girl Giggle!

I’ve been spending some lovely vacation time with my parents. This brought my inner little girl to the surface. Sometimes I felt little and vulnerable and other times I felt carefree and giggly. It was fascinating to be a witness to myself and what came up for me during this time with my parents.

Some of the work I do with my clients is often about healing and caring for the Inner Little Girl (ILG). When we don’t take care of her we tend to feel cranky, upset and neglected. As adult women it is our responsibility to tend to our ILG just as we might a real daughter.

We must make sure she feels safe, nurtured and loved. We must take time to play! We must hold strong boundaries to keep her safe. We must make sure she giggles often! How might you make your ILG giggle?

Signs that your ILG needs attention:

  • Feeling cranky
  • Quick to anger (might feel like you want to stomp your feet)
  • Over reacting to people or situations
  • Sense of being lost
  • Wanting to cry
  • Feeling scared but not sure why
  • Indulging in unhealthy habits to get attention
